We work hard to offer the healthiest fish in the Bay Area. We are the only store in the bay area that separately quarantines all new fish arrivals before we make them available for purchase. Come in to our store and see for yourself.
We are pleased to include a bit more information on these featured fish. We hope you'll find it informative and we encourage you to come in and see our fish for yourself.
Checkerboard Cichlid (Dicrossus filamentosus)
VERY RARE and beautiful dwarf cichlid (2.5-3"). Males have a lyretail and longer fins. All fins have accents of red, blue and black. Female have transparent fins. Best in groups, in a planted tank with hiding places. One of the most beautiful dwarf cichlids. Parents take good care of brood. Feed mainly Spectrum with live black worms occasionally. SEE A VIDEO
Callistus Tetra (Hyphessobrycon callistus)
One of the brightest red schooling tetra, almost full grown. An "insider tip" fish, therefore not often available. Very hardy fish look best and do best in LARGE schools. Look spectacular against the green background of a lushly planted aquarium. Feed new Spectrum all natural, color-enhancing fish food for spectacular colors.
Sparkling Gouramis (Trichopsis pumilus)
Delicate looking, but quite hardy and peaceful fish with lots of beautiful blue, green, and red sparkles on fins and body. Likes a well planted tank and company of its own kind. Since it only grows to 1”, or so, it is ideal for smaller tanks. Feed Spectrum small pellets for vitamins and bright colors.
Honey Gourami (Colisa sota)
This is the original peaceful, honey dwarf gourami. They are almost full grown now. Being a small fish, they feel safest and are their most colorful in a small school, amidst lots of plants. A hardy fish, their small size is ideal for the smaller aquarium. Spectrum is their preferred food and will keep them most colorful and healthy.
Ember Tetra (Hyphessobrycon amandae)
Like the red embers of a coal fire, these red-glowing little beauties show their color best against a dark background with green plants as a contrast. Very hardy community tetra. Peaceful and happiest in large schools. Grows to 1.25 inches. Feed crushed Spectrum, natural, color maintaining pellets for best health and color
